50 YEARS
Half a Century of Midwest German Craftsmanship
Three generations. One shop. Zero shortcuts. Rahn’s Furniture Restoration has been bringing furniture back to life in Los Angeles and Orange County since 1976.
1976 — 2026
The Rahn’s Story — How It Started
In 1976, the Rahn family opened a furniture restoration shop on Carmenita Road in Santa Fe Springs, California. They didn’t come from the coasts. They came from the Midwest, carrying a tradition of German craftsmanship that valued one thing above all else: doing the work right, even when no one is watching.
That meant stripping every piece to the bare frame. Re-gluing every joint. Replacing every spring, every piece of webbing, every layer of padding — not layering new material over old. It was slower. It was harder. And it was the only way they knew how to work.
Fifty years later, it’s still the only way they work.
Three Generations, One Standard
The original craftsmen trained the next generation. The next generation trained the one after that. The techniques evolved — new finishing products, better foam technology, modern fabrics — but the standard never changed: every piece leaves this shop better than the day it was built.
That’s not a marketing line. That’s a 50-year track record. Pieces we restored in the 1980s are still in service today. Dining sets we refinished for grandparents now belong to their grandchildren. Antiques we saved from fire damage in the 1990s are still on display in museums.
The shop has never moved. The family has never sold. The work has never been outsourced to a subcontractor. Everything — woodwork, refinishing, upholstery, custom builds, caning, rushing, replacement parts — happens under one roof, by the same team.
“We don’t build furniture to last a season. We build it to last a generation. And then we restore it for the next one.”
— The Rahn Family, Since 1976
